Nyawita Self-Help Group is situated and established within Chiga, Manyatta, Kisumu, Kenya. It was formed in the year 2005 with 20 members and is registered with the social services department, Kisumu.

The groups main objective is to provide the whole of Chiga Community and its surrounding neighbours with support through identifying the community's own resources and making use of such resources for the benefit of the locals. These would promote development plans that are geared towards positive transformation of common people.

Our Broad Objectives are:
- To improve the standard of living of people within our community and the surrounding
- Provide educational support to the vulnerable orphans
- Construction of a children's home within the community as some of them are left at a very tender age

The groups achievements have been realised in terms of:
- 171 vulnerable children (orphans have accessed education)
- Voluntarism support for the development of the project
- Six widows out of 56 have their houses reconstructed to semi-permanent through group donation
- Producing our own daily meal through small-scale farming

(For further information about the group and it's proposals, please contact the Makika network)
