About Makika Network

Makika local network is a sub-division of Muungano Wa Wanavijiji, the Kenyan Slum Dwellers Federation, representing over 100,000 slum dwellers across the country (for more information follow this link the the Pamoja Trust website). The Makika network links together self-help groups located in the areas of Manyatta, Kibos and Kaloleni (click here for a description of some of the groups and their activities) in the city of Kisumu, Kenya.

All of the groups in the network are formed around their own aims and objectives and conduct their own activities, but share the common function as small-scale savings schemes for their members to pool their resources together, both within their group and also together as the wider Makika network. The Makika network meets every Tuesday near the Kondele mosque in Manyatta A.

The leadership structure of the Makika network is as follows (as of July 2011):

Area Convenor (description)
